We are a community intentionally engaged in our faith, celebrating God’s love for
us in and through Jesus Christ. We seek to live God’s welcome, inviting people
from any and every walk of life, and to live and reflect God’s love for the sake of
one another and for the world. For us faith is not a formula, but rather is the place
where the truth of God in Jesus Christ intersects the day-to-day reality of our lives.
Therefore we endeavor to be a community whose culture is characterized by
honest reflection, encouragement of creativity, and generosity of spirit, trusting
that God calls us as the church to that posture. We want to meet you!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been given a new birth
into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…! Once you were not a people, but
now you are God’s people!... (1 Peter 1:3; 2:10)
WHO WE ARE---
We are not just the congregation at Oxford Presbyterian Church, we’re also a family. Our church is built on
the foundation that we are all part of the Oxford Presbyterian Church family and God’s family. If you have
worshiped with us before, you are aware of the close family feeling that embraces you at the doors.
OUR HISTORY---
The Oxford Presbyterian church was established in 1818, beginning with nine members. The first church
building was erected in 1830, one of the first brick churches built in North Carolina. In 1892, that building
was torn down and the present sanctuary was erected. The Sunday School annex was added in 1941.
The church is listed in the North Carolina Historical Register. The sanctuary is used for many services. One
of the attractions of the sanctuary is the organ. It is a Casavant Tracker Action Organ, which is made up of
three organs. The Hauptwerk is the one seen and heard best from the pews.
The windows enhancing the sanctuary are “the Good Shepherd” and “Come Unto Me”. These windows were
repaired and replaced into new frames in 2008.

Missions are very important to our church, and throughout the year, there are special offerings and observances to support the various
local, national and world-wide mission projects.
We have an active Youth Fellowship, called “Wide Awake”. Some of the teens are members of the 8:08 Band and perform every
Sunday morning at the Contemporary service. They go on a mission trip each summer to help those in need.
A Buffet Breakfast is served each Sunday morning following the Contemporary service. Sunday School begins at 9:45 with an Adult
