Worship and Music at Oxford Presbyterian
Worship is at the very center of our life as a church. Whatever the time of day or time of year, whatever the style of music or sort of service, we always gather in the presence of God to hear the Holy Spirit speak anew to us the Good News of Jesus Christ. Whether we have been at Oxford Presbyterian our entire lives or whether we have come for the very first time, every one of us is an equal partaker in the grace of worship. Therefore we invite all to share in the performance of worship—whether it be through the playing of instruments, through singing in the choir, through the leading of the liturgy and reading the Scriptures. Please let us know of your interest.
At Oxford Presbyterian, we have two worship services which are described below. More than anything, we want you to join us as we lift up our hearts to God. Please come and check them out!
8:08 a.m.
The 8:08 endeavors to be a culture that reaches out to the non-churched and those who are post-church. The service is casual in nature and includes a multitude of contemporary music styles. Included in 8:08’s informality is the sharing of prayers and concerns among the people and the opportunity to greet friend, neighbors, and visitors. But even with its peculiar culture, the 8:08 is still a gathering that is centered around the person of Jesus Christ and God’s love for the world in and through him. Breakfast and fellowship immediately follow this service in our fellowship hall.
11:00 a.m.
Our service at 11:00 offers a traditional yet vibrant style of worship that is multi-generational. Come and experience the richness, beauty, and genius of the church’s liturgy. We sing the great hymns and are blessed by music offered by our choir, our beautiful pipe-organ, and by soloists. At the center of our worship is the reading of the Scripture and the Proclamation of the Word. Our 11:00 service is a sacred space and time where our worship both affirms our faith and inspires the living and proclaiming of the Good News in our daily lives.
